Submissions
The Redwing’s Nest is looking for art and writing from children, pre-school through 8th grade, from around the world.
The Redwing’s Nest accepts literary and visual arts submissions 3 times a year for each of the three issues. The issues are themed and all submissions should broadly connect to the theme in some way.
Upcoming themes include:
ME, Myself, and I , Winter 2012, submissions due November 1, 2011.
HOME , Spring 2012, submissions due March 1, 2012.
The submissions are reviewed and selected by an editorial panel of Middle School students from Sabot at Stony P0int. Submissions are reviewed based on the connection to the issue’s theme, over-all artistic inspiration, craft, originality and artistic vision.
Please send literary arts as Word documents or Rich Text Format and visual arts as jpegs. Save the files with your name, title of work and Art or Lit in the file name. For example, kerrymills_The River_ART.jpeg. Send submission and submission form (rename the form including artist’s or writer’s name) as attachments to Kerry Mills at theredwingsnest@sabotatstonypoint.org
When submitting book reviews, please follow the the following guidelines:
At the top left
Your Name
Title of book, underlined
Author, fiction or non-fiction
Publisher, year published, number of pages
Book Reviews need not connect to the theme of any issue. Review Text to be no more than 250 words. Please include, in your review, a discussion of the merits of the book, a brief summary, a discussion of the problem, topic, or issue addressed. Books may be fiction or non-fiction.
