Maxie Broening – A House on an Island in Estonia

A House on an Island in Estonia

It was an overcast day with gray clouds in the sky. The house looked like it would be nice to live in. It had an almost perfect thatched roof, and the walls were made of some kind of dark wood that made the house stand out from the background. Inside, the polished floors were bare, except for a bed, a chest of drawers and a table and chairs. The view through the big windows was of trees that were slowly turning green and a huge stone well that contrasted with the rest of the surrounding grounds. The well wasn’t worked the usual way using a crank, bucket and rope, but the less common way of using a big forked stick and a long straight thin log pointed towards the well. There was a dirt road in front of the house.
